I should update this thing once in a while.
I will write about my Wicked experience!

This past Saturday at 2 pm, I saw a performance of Wicked at the Canon Theatre in Toronto. I'll back up a couple of hours though, because my dad didn't have a ticket and he wanted to see the show. So we lined up two hours before the show to enter the Wicked Lottery. Basically, they draw for 24 seats before every performance and some lucky peepz get the tickets. Anyway, he ended up getting one and all was well with the world.

Once we found our seats (which were first balcony, first row, dead centre !!!), we opened the programs to find out that Stephanie J. Block (Elphaba) was being replaced by an understudy >:OOOOOOOO, the girl who usually plays Nessa Rose. >:OOOOOOOO

Basically the short story is that the understudy was still pretty good. She had an awesome voice. The girl who played Glinda was also great and adorable but not as good as Kristin Chenoweth. I've listened to the CD a few too many times. The guy who played Fiyero was okay. He wasn't bad at all but he wasn't omgawesomeamazing. A relative *cough* made some negative comments because the actor who played him was black, and I got all upset. Because isn't the whole point of the story not to judge people by outward appearances?

There was a computer malfunction at the end of the first half, and Elphaba didn't fly at the end of Defying Gravity. That was really sad but the actress handled it pretty well. According to the merch guy it wasn't her fault at all, and it was just a freak accident. BAH, WHY AT MY PERFORMANCE, STUPID COMPUTER?

I was determined not to cry but by the end of the play I was sobbing uncontrollably. It was idiotic and I was like trying not to make noise and stuff. Then I stopped by the time the actors came out at the end, but then when Elphaba and Glinda came out I started crying again. And I never cry at anything. AHHH, can you say pathetic fangirl?

And now I've caught the bug and I'm going to go for the lottery thang again tomorrow night with my mom. We want to see the real Elphaba, because apparently the composer wrote the songs around her voice. She was supposed to be on Broadway but apparently the people with the money wanted a big name so they got Idina Menzel. Interesting! So after learning that, I really want to see Stephanie J. Block.
