the little things
Sep. 1st, 2004 02:10 amWhenever I look over the past (usually through my picture-logs), I realize that it's the little things that count. We go through big changes and do big things, but we really seem to remember the tiny details that wouldn't seem to matter to anyone else. It's the stuff you don't expect that makes a difference. It's funny how that works. I think half of my problems stem from trying to do things on too big a scale.
Like that painting. I just finished a painting tonight (which I'm not sure I want to post), and it's difficult to accept it because it's not grade-A quality artistry. I'm a mediocre painter. But it's a birthday present for my friend, and I'm sure that she's going to like it because it's really personalized. Because it's a small thing. I've gotta remember that. We all need to stop beating ourselves up.
I mean, this thing is awesome, and look how tiny it is:

( But then I found something even better. )
